Summary

After my high school years I travelled around the world. On return to Australia I attempted fine arts at Tafe, and science at UNE. I dropped out of both and ended up learning and teaching yoga for ten years. This was followed by moving to the Northern Rivers with my family and working in my own building/carpentry business. In 2010 I moved into the community welfare/support worker field and have continued to extend my knowledge and experience, veering towards mental health and specialising in the trauma of indigenous people. I am currently working full time with Momentum Collective and studying for a Masters degree in mental health.

Skills and Abilities

Running a small building company has developed skills that easily transfer to working in a social based organisation; Basic management skills,  problem solving,  financial competence, working in a team, liaising with clients and different types of people,  meeting goals and planning.

Developing and running residential successful 10 day meditation courses has required organising programs, sorting out many problems, and general management.

Studying , teaching yoga and associated philosophies and working with people with a mental affliction in a professional capacity has helped developed skills in working with mental health issues

Counselling with Lifeline has helped develop interpersonal skills, and staying calm in distressing circumstances

Working with the current clients has used my skills in solving complex situations such as trauma, violent reactions, working with a team and developing suitable programs. For the last 4 years I have been the local WHS representative.
